The COVID-19 outbreak has changed all of our plans. None of us will be filling out March Madness brackets. Instead, we will be social distancing ourselves from our teams. None of us know how to feel with this outbreak. Some of us are worried the world is ending. Some of us are freaking out over toilet paper.
There is no timetable for fans to return to stadiums. We are all trying to stay safe and spread kindness. This reminds us that sports is entertainment. Take time to appreciate your favorite athlete or team right now. This is a global pandemic. Death tolls rise and celebrities that we admire are getting diagnosed.
There is no end in sight. This could be a couple of weeks or a couple of months. We should be preparing for Tiger Woods to defend his Masters Crown in April. We should be watching the San Jose State Women’s basketball team play meaningful basketball this month. We should be writing about the SJSU softball team becoming a national championship contender.
Instead, we are self quarantining from an evolving virus. We are suppose to be standing six feet away from each other. We can not support our local businesses anymore. Sports has taken a backseat for now. The sports world has not ended but rather taken a backseat to real life. We are use to cheering for our team hitting the game winning shot. Now we should be cheering for medical personal to find a cure.
