Perfect Time to Start Playing Golf

There is not a single sport on the planet that brings you breathtaking views. This was taken by Julie Trace in 2015 at Spanish Bay Golf Links in Pebble Beach.

Golf has been patronized as a rich man’s sport. Some of that is true but that stigma has changed since Tiger Woods took the golf world by storm. If this video does not make you feel an emotion then you are not human.

There are many sports that have been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Social distancing has now become a popular term in society. We are now being forced to be six feet away from each other. However, there is a sport where you can get fresh air and also get your competitive juices going.

The beauty about golf is you can start at any age. I know some age groups are more heavily affected by the epidemic. However, this is your chance to get started when people are indoors. This does depend on your health but being on the driving range alone can be such a feeling.

Golf has given me wonderful opportunities. I have played at Pebble Beach Golf Links twice. Writer Robert Louis Stevenson wrote about his love for the Monterey Peninsula.

“The most felicitous meeting of land and sea,” Stevenson wrote in 1879.

I grew up forty five minutes away from this national treasure. This was a childhood dream come true. Picture courtesy of The First Tee.

I have won scholarships because of this game. I became a philanthropist because of the values that this game has taught me. There are so many opportunities that this game has provided to my family and I. There are a plethora of golf scholarships that high school boys and girls can apply for.

Golf matters now more than ever. It is the only sport where you can spend four hours outside breathing fresh air. It does fit the six feet boundary. Health precautions will be taken. Now go tee it up and hit it straight.
