The Last Dance Episode 1 Review

The hype was well deserved.

This was the most anticipated documentary series ever. This was originally suppose to come out in June.

However due to the NBA postponing their season, ESPN decided to move up the premiere of “The Last Dance” to April.

This ten episode saga covers Michael Jordan’s last season as a Chicago Bulls. Cameras followed the team around during the 1997-98 season. MJ had total control of the footage shot that season. The film was archived at the NBA Entertainment facility in New Jersey.

Jordan gave ESPN his blessing to produce the documentary on the same day the Cleveland Cavaliers held their NBA Championship parade in 2016.

The first episode introduced general manager Jerry Krause who ended up becoming the villian. He wanted to rebuild but Jordan and head coach Phil Jackson were strongly against that.

I think it was Krause trying to take credit for the Bulls Dynasty. He did pass away in 2017 so unfortunately he cannot defend himself.

It was fascinating as a sports fan to see this dysfunction. Most teams would have folded under pressure.

But not the Bulls dynasty.
