This episode focused on Scottie Pippen who was always in Michael Jordan’s shadow.

Pippen deserves to be in the conversation of one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

He was a two way player during the Bulls Dynasty.

You would think the Brinks trunk would be backed up in Pippen’s mansion.

Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf did not think so. Believe it or not, Pippen was 116th highest paid player entering that season.

He was entering his last year of a 7 year, $18 million dollar deal. However, the front office was in talks to TRADE him. Yes, trade Scottie Pippen in his prime just for the front office to prove their point.

Pippen did his own silent protest which was delaying his foot surgery until a month before the season started. He did not want to mess his summer up which led to a media storm coming at the Bulls.

But MJ just added this to his motivation. He went through a similar situation during the 1986 season. He missed half that season with a foot injury which gave him a minutes restriction when he returned.

It was cool of the director Jason Hehir to connect the two story lines. This was the beginning of an icy relationship between the Bulls front office and their face of the franchise.
